My trees are celebrating their 50th anniversary!
I began making them in 1971 in my basement as a hobby. I spent several nights a week for 2 decades in our unventilated, smoke filled Michigan basement making trees until I would get a headache from the fumes. I did it because I just loved doing it.
I was a busy, full time Family Doctor. I never took a picture of my tree making because I didn’t think anyone would be interested. I loved caring for patients with my great office staff for 25 years. But I was swept along in the stream of life and making sculpture to honor people captured my heart. This is an early picture of me making a tree 26 years ago.
